The project began with a decision to construct the Wolford Mountain Reservoir five miles north of Kremmling. Areas that would be flooded included the location of a well preserved two-story log homestead building dated approximately 1885. Known as the Fitch Homestead, the building was donated to the Grand County Historical Association by the current owner Daniel Ritchie, Chancellor of Denver University.

Log Cabin
In 1994 the Log Cabin was moved from the site of the Wolford Mountain Reservoir into Kremmling to the property adjacent to the Livery and Feed building.
