The museum complex is home to the 1906 DNW&P Train Depot, the McElroy livery and barn, the Horseshoe Ranger Station, the old Kremmling town jail, a fishing cabin, and historic ranching machiney. The project began with a proposal of constructing the Wolford Mountain Reservoir five miles north of Kremmling. Areas that would be flooded included the location of a well preserved two-story log homestead building dated approximately 1885. Known as the Fitch Homestead, the building was donated to the Grand County Historical Association by the current owner Daniel Ritchie, Chancellor of Denver University.
