Restoration Projects and A Call to Action:

Dear Friends of Grand County Historical Association,

Throughout 2011, the board and staff of Grand County Historical is focusing on fundraising and has undertaken the ambitious projects of restoring some of our most valuable railroad artifacts - the unique Denver & Rio Grande AX-044 "snow spreader" railcar and the historic railroad depot in Kremmling.

The spreader will soon begin it's phase two of restoration; which includes re-roofing

the car and repairing/replacing the siding. In order to carry out this phase

of restoration, GCHA is required to provide a matching amount of $7,430

to the State Historical Fund. Once completed, phase two will open the door

for visitors to walk through the unique railcar.

In Kremmling, the depot has been moved, painted and the windows replaced.

This is a great start, and we offer a huge thanks to the combined efforts, hard work,

and dedication of members of the Kremmling community and the Union Pacific Foundation. There is still much work to be done to allow visitors to tour the magnificent building - foremost, the entire building must be raised and set onto a permanent foundation. Union Pacific has generously offered $5,000 towards the foundation construction and the community has raised almost $8,000 over several years

to help complete this project. In total, the restoration of the Kremmling railroad

depot requires over $85,000.

Consider donating to these vital Grand County railroad restoration projects,

and help us preserve our unique heritage for future generations to enjoy.

If you have any questions, would like further information, or would like to get involved

in any of our restoration projects, please send us an email at GCHA@rkymtnhi.com

or call us at (970) 725 - 3939.

Building Fund

The Building Fund for the Pioneer Village Museum preserves the historic buildings

at the Pioneer Village Museum complex in Hot Sulphur Springs. We recognize that

our current space needs expansion. Proper storage for artifacts and more room

for temporary exhibits is crucial. Our architect has provided a space plan based on the identified needs. In 2009, phase one - the Gift Shop addition and a new museum entrance - were completed. In order to complete phase two, we need to raise $500,000.

Thank you!

Operating Fund

The daily operating and functioning of Grand County's three historical museums is partially funded by donations. All three Grand County Historical museums rely on your support and generous contributions to enhance museum visitors' experiences and keep the museums open.

Thank you!
