Christmas at the Museums

The Grand County Characters are a group of Grand County residents that are dedicated to keeping the History of Grand County and of Colorado alive.  They do this by providing “living history” performances to educate and entertain audiences of all ages. 

As volunteers they each research the characters they portray.  As time allows they write what they have learned about the characters and submit the information to their website so that others may use the information.  In addition to researching the character(s) they portray they search for pictures of them or of others from the same period to plan their wardrobe.  Their objective is to have their wardrobe be as accurate as possible to the period they portray.  They then make, beg or borrow what they need to do so.  The same is true with props.  They research what would be appropriate to the time period and then beg, borrow or make what is necessary.

They provide performances at programs sponsored by the Grand County Historical Association and other historical organizations.  In addition they perform for educational, commercial and private parties that want to inform their prospective students, buyers or employees about the unique history of this Grand County.  They ask for donations for each performance and will suggest an amount dependent upon the amount of research time and effort required to prepare and the number of characters involved.  Although they have performances that can be prepared very quickly they are willing to present new material that your organization might like to see.

The Grand County Characters are certified as a nonprofit corporation in the State of Colorado.
